An OC I've been thinking about this summer. Dead, alone, but hopeful for better things. The serpent and the fish are soul guides. There's a lot to say but nothing is solid just yet.
Did the lineart in Painter for a change. Like the experience, it's a lot easier and more fluid than Photoshop lining, but I think I need to fiddle with the brushes more before I'm happy.
I should have a journal up in a day or so, but I've been thinking about a color contest and giving out little art prizes to the winners. Sound interesting to anyone, or is it a bad time with school underway and all?
The lines in Painter definetly look all different 0.0 I really like it. Nice and smooth. I do very much love the brushes in corel but in all honesty I cant use them well. Coloring isnt my best ability although I keep trying anyways. I dont know if my problem is layer usage brush ussage or teh way I blend.
I was wondering what that big round thing was... A fish? It's cute ^^.

Here's a [link] to my lineart tutorial, but that focuses on Photoshop and seeing as I did this in Painter it's a little different. I was able to make smooth lines while zoomed out in painter, and I could turn the picture to ink so I was able to handle it a little more traditionally, and a hell of a lot faster.
The main difference is that I used three different sized pens for this. With the canvas size at 5220x7736 my brush sizes were 3.1 5.4 and 8.2. Randomn, I know, but I wrote them down without bothering to round them off when drawing. The 3.1 was used throughout the whole piece to give me a quick sketch first. I then made a detail layer (the tutorial explains what this is) with the 5.4 over all of the main shape lines concerning the three different characters, leaving the fine detail like fin lines and scales alone. Finally I used the 8.2 to outline the whole abstract shape of them all against the white paper.
Oh, and so you know, in painter I didn't use any of the pen tools. My brush was an oil brush (detail oils brush) set to 100% opacity and no depth. The edges of the 8.2 brush was a little soft for my taste so I sharpened it up in Photoshop after so the lines appeared flatter. And the color effect is just a gradation layer set on color put over the lines. Hope that helps (I'm half asleep atm @_@)

When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

The spirit guide are really neat too! Haha the fish one kind of tripped me out when I first saw it because I thought the gil plate was a hole. XD
Actually I'm just ending summer school right now, so it would be the best time for me for a coloring contest (which sounds like so much fun btw!). XD
